Glass that holds the street.

Montalvo Glass cuts, carries and sets glass for Brooklyn storefronts, apartments and bathrooms. Harry takes the measurements himself, so the pane that shows up is the pane that fits.

What we do

The glass we cut, carry and set

Four kinds of work fill our week. Storefronts pay the bills, but the shower door in a Bensonhurst walk-up gets the same tape measure.

  1. 01

    Storefront glazing

Full shop fronts, entry doors, transoms and vestibules in slim aluminum. We template the opening, order tempered stock to size, and set it with the sidewalk protected.

    • Aluminum frames, door closers, panic hardware
    • Landlord and DOB paperwork we can work with
  2. 02

    Window replacement

Fogged double panes, cracked sashes, single-glazed rear windows that whistle all winter. We swap the unit or the whole window, brownstone or six-story walk-up.

    • Insulated units re-made to your exact sightline
    • Walk-up and fire-escape access, no scaffold drama
  3. 03

    Shower & partition glass

Frameless enclosures, steam doors, mirrored walls and office partitions. Tempered glass, polished edges, hardware that still closes softly in year five.

    • Out-of-plumb tile walls measured, not guessed
    • Hinges, clamps and handles in your finish
  4. 04

    Repair & board-up

Somebody put a chair through your window. Call the shop line: we board the opening the same night, then bring cut glass once the fabricator opens.

    • Plywood dry-in, glass swept, photos for the claim
    • Chipped edges and failed seals re-glazed
Glass, plainly explained

Know what you are looking through

Every quote names the glass and why it belongs in that opening. No mystery spec sheet.

Tempered

Heat-treated so it breaks into blunt pebbles instead of blades. Code for doors, shower walls and anything near the floor.

Laminated

Two sheets bonded to a clear interlayer. It stays in the frame when it cracks, which is why storefronts and skylights use it.

Insulated units

Two panes, sealed air gap. When you see fog between the glass, the seal is gone and the unit gets re-made, not the window.

Low-E & tinted

An invisible coating that pushes summer heat back onto the sidewalk. Worth it on any west-facing shop front.

Why the block calls us

A glazier you can find again next year

Harry does the measure

The owner holds the tape on every job, so nothing is lost between a phone call and a fabrication order.

Licensed & insured in NY

Certificates go to your landlord or managing agent before we touch the opening.

Boarded tonight, glazed this week

Break-ins do not wait for business hours. Dry-in first, cut glass as soon as the fabricator opens.

Local fabricators

Tempered and laminated stock cut in the five boroughs. Short trucking means fewer chipped edges.

Pane-by-pane pricing

The quote lists each opening, the glass type and the hardware. You can cut a line and see the number move.

Sidewalk left clean

Old glass crated out, silicone tooled, fingerprints wiped. Neighbors should not know we were there.

From call to cured seal

Measured twice, set once

  1. You leave a number

Tell us the opening and text a photo if you have one. Harry calls back the same working day, usually within the hour.

  2. Site measure

We check the opening for square, note the frame depth and the glass type the code wants, then price it on the spot.

  3. Cut & tempered

Your sizes go to the fabricator. Storefront stock is usually three to five working days; stock window units can be next day.

  4. Set, sealed, swept

Glass in, setting blocks true, silicone tooled clean. We wait out the cure with you and hand over care notes.

Who shows up

Harry Montalvo, on site with the panel

Montalvo LLC runs out of Bay 22nd Street, a few blocks from the shops we glaze. Harry started on a storefront crew, learned the difference between a frame that is square and a frame that only looks it, and has been cutting on his own name since 2011.

It is a small outfit on purpose. You get the same phone number, the same truck and the same person answering for the seal two winters later.

  • Residential and commercial glazing under one roof
  • Storefront, sash, shower, mirror and partition work
  • Straight answers when a repair beats a replacement

Shop glass versus a real glazier

Cut-to-size glass is cheap until it arrives 3/8 inch proud of the frame. Here is the honest difference.

Order-by-the-inch counter

  • You measure, you own the mistake
  • Glass type chosen from a dropdown
  • Curbside drop, you carry it upstairs
  • Nobody to call when the seal fails

Montalvo Glass

  • Opening templated on site, square checked
